Betty Sue
Randall
Dec 12, 1949 — Dec 11, 2021
Hampton
Betty Sue Randall was born to the late Allen and Viola Randall in Hampton Arkansas on December 12, 1949. She departed this life peacefully on December 11, 2021 at the age of 71, one day before her birthday. Betty was ready to go home and celebrate her 72nd birthday with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
The family moved to Houston, TX in 1953, where Betty and her sister Ivory grew up and lived most of their adult lives. Betty united with the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and was baptized. She sang in the Youth Choir along with her sister and their close friends and was a song leader. Betty attended James D. Burrus Elementary School and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1968. She attended Texas Southern University in Houston, Tx and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Clothing & Textiles/Art & Design. She furthered her education at Kansas State University and earned a Master of Arts degree in Clothing, Textiles and Interior Design.
Betty held various positions during her working years in Houston. One of her more challenging positions was being a Data Processing Supervisor for an architectural firm where she utilized her skills in details with her knowledge of design for a highly classified defense project. Later she was employed for several years as an Instructor in the Home Economics Dept of her alma mater, Texas Southern University.
She excelled in designing and making her own specialized clothing. Her talents in arts and crafts were many. She produced neckties, denim hats, custom aprons, wall hangings, tote bags all with applicable bible verses on them.
Betty relocated to Hampton in 2004, where she has resided for the past 17 years. She was well known and loved in Houston as well as Hampton. She had a bubbly, joyful personality and had words of wisdom for you at all times. She was loved deeply by her younger cousins. Young Jared Holmes, Jr came to her one day and said "Betty, I'm going to give you 50 hugs, and he did, counting every one of them. That act showed a lot of love and it truly touched her soul. Some of the younger cousins called her Aunt Betty. Several called her Beppie and two from Houston called her Suzy. She was known as "Mama or Mother B" to her church associates. Betty initially united with Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Hampton and later with Spirit Led Church in Camden, currently The Word Family Church under the leadership of Bishop Jacovis Davis.
Her greatest joy, after she became a born-again Christian, was witnessing to others about the love, mercy and goodness of God. She had a heart of gold and helped many young people by giving them spiritual advice as well as financial aid. There are many who can testify of her encouragement to them. Throughout her illness, Betty never wavered in her faith. She fully trusted in God and praised and honored Him constantly in word and song. Until her dying day she was saying "Praise the Lord" "Thank You Jesus" "Hallelujah" "Worship God" and her favorites, " I am a True Worshipper" and "I'm on one accord with the Holy Spirit".
She is survived by her sister, Ivory Mae Randall of Hampton, AR, five aunts - Annie Randall and Mrs. Peggy A. Moore of Hampton, AR; Willie Mae Martin and Barbara Randall of Milwaukee, WI; and Annie Ruth Moore of Houston, TX; one uncle, Woodrow (Cynthia) Randall of Hampton, AR and numerous relatives and friends.
