Remembering Charles

Charles Edward Bates, Sr. was born in Dumas, Arkansas September 18, 1945 to Edward (Eddie) Bates and Lucille Bates. His parents were blessed to have eight children survive and Charles was the youngest. Charles grew up with his brothers and sisters Edward Bates Jr, George Bates, Willie Bates, Clarence Bates, LW Bates, Mary Francis Bates-Thomas, and Mayola Bates- Slaughter. Charles completed High School and decided to leave his home and move to Chicago. Charles had an adventurous spirit. He moved from Arkansas, to Illinois, to as far as California before settling back home in Arkansas. During his life he experienced many things, he was compulsive about learning the Word of God, which is evident by the witness of close friends. Charles is preceded in parting this life by his parents (Edward and Lucille), one sister (Mayola) and four brothers (Edward Jr., Willie, George and Clarence). Charles' will be remembered by his children; Tammie BatesDennis, Wanda Bates, Lisa Bates of Las Vegas, NV, Pamela Bates of San Antonio, TX Verne Austin of St. Paul, MN' Tenille Bates-Williams (Perry) of Atlanta, GA, Anika Bates of Mesa, AZ, Charles Bates Jr. (Shaina) of California, MD, Justin Bates (Michelle) and Jordan Bates (Taylor) of Memphis, TN; his remaining sister Mary Frances Thomas of Long Beach, CA and brother LW Bates of Camden, AR and a host of grandchildren and great grand children and many family members and close friends, including Rudie Galbert.
