Obituary

Deborah Kaye McGowan, 68, of Camden, AR, died June 13, 2022 at the Ouachita County Medical Center. She was born February 19, 1954 at Christian Welfare Hospital in East St Louis, IL to Patsy Jeanne Strong and Kenneth Harry Biermann.

She was known as "Debbie" or "Debs" to many of her close friends and family. Deborah had a great sense of humor with a serious side (when needed). She enjoyed telling stories about her childhood growing up at "the Tavern" in Fairview Hts IL, playing poker with the girls on Wednesday nights, attending baseball games, taking the kids to Sonic for ice cream or to local establishments for ICEEs, and playing Farm Town on her iPad. She was a selfless, devoted and loving person who lived her life in service to others.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edward McGowan, Sr. and her best friend of many decades, Mary Norwood.

She is survived by two sons: Thomas Edward McGowan of Hot Springs and Shawn Edward McGowan (Bangon) of Pearl City Hawaii; eight grandchildren: Treyvaughn Marquise McGowan, Quayshawn Thomas McGowan, Jahcarion Evans, Legend Taylor, and Prince Bentley McGowan all of Hot Springs AR, Eric Jamal McGowan of Denton TX, and Kenja Jamaria McGowan and Ashauni Trenae Edwards of Camden AR; and five great-grandchildren.

She is survived by an extended family that was very special to her: Becky Boyd of Texarkana, TX; Lacey (Todd), Peyton and Skylar Schroeder of Camden; Lindsey Wilson of Camden; Brenda, Cedric, and Fredrick Flannigan of Camden; and Jasmine Ames of Little Rock.
