Obituary

John Wayne Strickland, Sr. was born on December 16, 1950 in Camden, AR, to P.W. Strickland and Roletha Strickland.

John united with Brown's Temple Church of God In Christ at an early age. His career journey began at the family-owned Strickland Mill. He continued his work path as General Contractor until his health declined.

He was joined in Holy Matrimony to Rose Jones Strickland. He was preceded in death by his late wife Rose M Strickland, father, P.W. Strickland; mother, Roletha Strickland; and brothers Donald Ray and Perry Devon Strickland.

John, also known as Pete and the "Black Power" to his family and friends, was an exceptional worker. He also enjoyed various hobbies such as: camping, hunting, fishing, playing dominoes, riding the 4-wheeler and barbecuing.  Pete was a member of the Mid-Way Hunting Club and later joined the S&O Hunting Club of Camden, AR. Pete loved watching sports. His favorite sports were NFL Football and Basketball. His favorite team being the Dallas Cowboys. And of course, his favorite color scheme was camouflage.
