Obituary

Larry "Big Foot" Atkins

No matter what your trails are, or how big your mountain seems;
The Lord is there to see you through; He'll go to all extremes.
So if your cross seems hard to bear, and you know not what to do;
The one who loves you most of all will be there to see you through.

On Wednesday, March 11, 1953, Joe Atkins and Eddie were blessed with a beautiful baby boy Larry Atkins. Later adopted by John B. and Lucille Atkins who loved and spoiled him dearly. Larry grew up in the Lafayette community. He was an outstanding basketball player for the Lafayette school district. He enjoyed fishing and cooking. He is better known as "Big Foot." Larry was a driver for the Greyhound bus company and Coca-Cola Bottling Company. He spent hours Barbequing when and where ever he could. Larry possessed a strong work ethic and modeled the scripture in 2 Thessalonians 3:10 "If anyone doesn't want to work, he shouldn't eat." There was no one he did not know. Larry accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Mt. Gillard Baptist Church. He was a proud member of the Mt. Gillard Male Chorus where he is known for leading "I Have A Father Who Can." Throughout his sickness, he never waived from God. He talked every day about his Isaiah 58 seed. Larry enjoyed his day to day connections with family, friends, and classmates. He was full of joy and with each day, he had a great sense of humor which we will all miss.

With his wife Delma who transitioned before him, they had two sons Cory Atkins and Larry Chaundice Atkins who also preceded his home going. "Blessed are those who die in the Lord from now on. Yes, says the spirit they are blessed indeed, for they will rest from their hard work for their good deeds follow them." Revelation 14:13. Larry received his blessing of immortality into the Lord's embrace on Wednesday, August 1, 2018. He fought a good fight, but he was ready for his heavenly home.

Larry will always be remembered in the heart of his wife, Mary Carolyn Monk Atkins of Camden, AR. His daughters, Donna Clay (Camden, AR), Nieta Williams (Stephens, AR), and Alexzia Atkins (Conway, AR). His sons, Antonio Cooksey (North Little Rock, AR) Chris Cooksey and Jakorie Atkins (Fordyce, AR). Grandchildren Ashle Atkins, Si'Gorney Tatum, and Kevin Thrower II. Four Great Grandchildren. His mother in laws, Cledis Braswell (Bearden, AR) and Betty Monk (Camden, AR). . His cousins and caregiver Diann (Michael) Epps and, Minerva Daniels (Camden, AR) and friend and caregiver Myra Gunter (Camden, AR). Many relatives and friends whom he loved dearly.
