Obituary

We ourselves glory in God our Father today, in celebration of his good servant, sister  Milrean Tatum Stockmon, born and raised in Buena Vista, Arkansas, the 2nd of 3 sisters and sister of 6 brothers, the family of Talmage and Lettie Lewis Tatum.

"It is a good thing," saith the Lord, to be baptized in youth as a family member of the Bethel AME Church, Buena Vista, AR. She attended Bethel Elementary School and Stephens High School of Stephens, AR. (class of 1954), where she held interest on student committees, the Arts, sports track and field and basketball receiving a full scholarship.

Milrean grew up on acres of farmland under tall trees of whispering winds echoing old church hymns, riding on mule wagons to Sunday school, 50s Chevys, gardening vegetables of corn, black eye peas, okra, preserved goods and more. She often spoke wearing a smile, a gentle heart and sense of humor of stories feeding dem ol goats, chickens, cows and lil fat piggy's named oushe baby, LoL! There were chores, always work to be done, cousins, friends would come from afar sharing the experience of fun summer barbecues, fish frys, baseball, hopscotch, gossip girls, the "Good Ole Days!"

In 1964, Milrean married her husband, Albert "Eddie" Stockmon, who served in the US Navy, a talented Artist and jazz musician. She was the proud beloved mother of Albert Skipper Stockmon and Michelle Tatum Stockmon. The grandmother of Skyllar Stockmon, daughter of Bridget and Skipper. Thank you Mother, for your legacy of love.

A soldier of Jesus Christ, the last one standing, now reunites with her 2 sisters, Myrtle Tatum Washington, Bessie Tatum Burnell and 6 brothers, Walter Tatum, Dewitt Tatum, Charles Tatum, Samuel Tatum, Raymond Tatum and Speedy Tatum, in heaven.

Dr. Milrean Stockmon, Ph.D., academic vision contained 3 points; Purpose, Mission and Value.
