Obituary

"We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord."

2 Corinthians 5:8

With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Sarah Johnson Beavers, who was born on November 12, 1933, in Bearden, Arkansas, to the late Len and Helen Johnson.
From an early age, Sarah dedicated her life to Christ and began her spiritual journey at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Her unwavering faith remained a cornerstone of her life, and she later became a devoted member of Revelation Church in Camden, Arkansas, where she worshipped faithfully until her health no longer allowed.
In 1948, Sarah married Curtis Albert, and together they moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where she made her home for the next 40 years. From this union, her beloved daughter, Vickie Albert Merritt, was born—an enduring source of pride and joy. Though the marriage ended, Sarah continued building a meaningful life in Kansas City. In 1965, she found love again and married Carter Beavers, her life partner, until his passing. After retiring, Sarah and Carter returned to Camden, Arkansas, where she embraced a peaceful and fulfilling life.
Sarah had a deep love for nature and found joy in the simple pleasures, especially fishing, which she happily returned to after moving back to Arkansas. She also enjoyed the camaraderie of hosting garage sales with her dear friend Mrs. Louise Henry. A natural giver, Sarah devoted herself to helping others in her community with quiet strength and selfless generosity always ready with a kind word, a helping hand, and a heart full of compassion.
Sarah was preceded in death by her husband Carter Beavers, two sons, her parents Len and Helen Johnson, her brothers Howard, Hayward, Bishop Wallace, Lloyd, and Len Johnson Jr., and her sisters Earsie L. White and Gerthie Ford and her son-in-law Pastor James Merritt.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and faith in the lives of her daughter Vickie Merritt, granddaughter Rashida Merritt, grandson Jameel Merritt, seven cherished great-grandsons, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends who will carry her memory in their hearts.
Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing that Sarah is now at peace, reunited with her loved ones in the presence of the Lord. Her laughter, wisdom, and unwavering love will continue to echo in our lives. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit will forever remain with us.
